Q. Why will you not just give me a CD of all the images you shot?

A. There are several reasons, the most important being that the images are saved in raw format and without special software you couldn’t open them anyway. Our digital camera’s aren’t exactly like the one you purchased for $1000.00. They record a much wider range of tones and colors and in order to process this data they require special software. While it’s true the latest version of photoshop will open some raw images you still need the training and experience to process the images correctly to achieve maximum detail and density. It’s my responsibility to turn over to you the best image I possibly can for the purpose you require and it’s my reputation on the line if images are published that do not look professional. Giving you the raw files would not accompish this.
Another reason is we don’t need to charge you to process all the photos, we provide you with the photos you need for a specific use. When shooting your project we will shoot many angles, lighting variations, exposures, ect. you will choose the one that suits your purpose. After you make your selections we will then color and density correct, retouch, drop backgrounds and do any other manipulation you request. We will then find out the specs for your print job, make the necessary CMYK conversion on calibrated equipment and write your CD’s. You will only be charged processing fees on the images you actually use. You will receive a CD of proofs for reference so you may order other images for other projects as needed. Also we are in the business of creating and selling copies of photographs, we reserve the right to produce any copies that are made of the photos. We put a lot of time and expense into creating the photos and to allow you to take them to the corner photo lab for prints or posters would not allow me to make a profit, and that's what we are here for after all.
